Re: “Yeliguan Cup” China Tug of War Open 2009 Invitation
Dear Sir or Madam,
With the efforts of the International Tug of War Federation and its member Countries and Regions, the sport Tug of War developed a lot in the world. In order to enhance the international exchange and cooperation of Tug of War, the Chinese Tug of War Association will hold “Yeliguan Cup” China Tug of War Open 2009 at Yeliguan, Lintan County, Gansu Province from August 8th to 9th,2009.
Yeliguan is a beautiful tourist scenic spot located at the northwest of China. It is 160km and takes about 2 hours by car from Lanzhou Zhongchuan International Airport to Yeliguan. Tug of War is a traditional games with 600 years history at Yeliguan and every year they organize “ten thousands” Tug of War Festival which was recorded in the Guinness world records.
Three categories of male 600km & 640km, female 520km and mixed 600km shall be included in the “Yeliguan Cup” China Tug of War Open 2009. The Chinese Tug of War Association hereby invite your teams to participate in the said tournament and only one team from your association is acceptable of the three categories. We will provide all participants (a maximum of 13 persons per team) 5-day/4-night (from August 6th to 10th,2009) free accommodation including boarding and lodging and local transportation between the Lanzhou Zhongchuan International Airport and Yeliguan while international transportation should be borne by the participants themselves.

Regulations
1. Date and Venue
Date: August 8th to 9th, 2009
Venue: Yeliguan, Lintan county, Gansu Province ,China
2.Hosted by:
the Leisure Sports Administrative Center of the General Administration of Sports of China, the Chinese Tug of War Association, the Gansu Provincial Sports Administration, the People’s Government of Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture
3.Organized by:
Lintan County People’s Governament, Gansu Provincial Leisure Sports Administrative Center, Gannan Prefecture Sports Administration, Gannan Prefecture Tourist Administration
4. Teams of the TWIF member countries and regions will be invited.
5. Competition Events:
Female: no exceeding 520km
Male: no exceeding 600km, no exceeding 640km
Mixed, no exceeding 600km
6. Participating Methods
1) One team from one country/region to one event is acceptable. Each male team consists of 12 persons including 1 team leader, 1 coach, 1 trainer and 9 male pullers (1 substitute), Each female team consists of 12 persons including 1 team leader, 1 coach, 1 trainer and 9 male pullers (1 substitute included) while Each mixed team consists of 13 persons including 1 team leader, 1 coach, 1 trainer,5 male pullers(1 substitutes included) and 5 female pullers (1 substitutes included).
2) Each puller is permitted to play no more than 2 events. Please mark on the entry form.
3) All pullers should be more than 18 years old, healthy. The elevation of Yeliguan is 2000 meters about.
4) Illness and accident insurance of all participants are requested.
7.Competition Methods
1) The updated TWIF Rules are adopted.
2) The competition venue is located outdoor while a Japanese Asics indoor lane is to be used.
3)All the pullers should be in uniform when attending the opening/closing ceremony & during the competition.
8. Ranking and Awarding
1) All the top 6 teams of each event will be awarded.
2) The top 3 teams will be awarded trophy, medal and certificate. Place 4 to 6 teams will be awarded plaque and certificate.
9. Entry, Arrival and Departure
1)Entry
Please send the entry form after having filled and a brief introduction of your team with a picture of your team and 2 passport photos of each puller to the Chinese Tug of War Association before July 1st .
2) Arrival
We will provide each country or region one round transportation between Lanzhou city and Yeliguan, so please arrange your members arrive and depart Lanzhou together.
3) Departure
Departure time is before 12:00 at noon, August 10th ,2009.
10. Expenses
1) International transportation to Lanzhou Zhongchuan Airport should be borne by all participants themselves.
2) Free accommodation including boarding and lodging and local transportation during the competition for 4nights/5days from August 6th to 10th ,2009 will be provided by the Chinese Tug of War Association.
3) Early arrival, late departure and extra person will have to pay 50USD per day per person (standard twin room)
11. Referees
All referees will be appointed by the Chinese Tug of War Association
12.The power of interpretation of this regulation rests with the Chinese Tug of War Association and please contact the Chinese Tug of War Association at any time should you have any requires.
